What are we going to set up?

In this Blog post we will show you, How to install Evernote with Microsoft Intune. There are two options available to install Evernote with Microsoft Intune.

  • Option 1: Install Evernote with the Microsoft Store
  • Option 2: Install Evernote with the WIN32 intunewin

Option 1 is a lot easier but you have more configuration options with the WIN32 deployment.

OPTION 1: Install with Microsoft Store

In this section we will show you, How to install Evernote with Microsoft Intune with the help of the Microsoft Store. Just follow these steps.

Step 1: Create Application

  • Go to intune.microsoft.com
  • Click on Apps
  • Click on Windows
  • Click on Add
  • Chose App type Microsoft Store app (new)
  • Click on Select

Now we need to select the Brave Browser application.

  • Click on Search the Microsoft Store app (new)
  • Search for Evernote
  • Select the Evernote application
  • Click on Select

Now you can edit some application informations. I will leave it as it is.

  • Click on Next
  • On the Assignments tab assign the Policy to a Group or to All User
  • Click on Next
  • And Review + Create the Policy

Congratulations! You have successfully deployed the application.

Step 2: Check installation

After you have created the application in the Microsoft Intune portal it will take some time until the Brave Browser will be installed on the users devices. Check the installation process on the application tab. If you run into some errors, you can check the following Community Post.

OPTION 2: Install with Win32

In this section we will show you How to install Evernote with Microsoft Intune with the help of the WIN32 feature.

Step 1: Create IntuneWin file

To install Evernote with Microsoft Intune we first need to create the IntuneWin file. Follow these steps:

  • Create a new folder called DeployEvernote on C:
  • Create a new folder called Output on C:

Now we need to download the latest Evernote application version.

  • Download the latest Evernote version from the website. Or just click here
  • Copy the downloaded Evernote application file to the DeployEvernote folder

Now we are going to create an intunewin file with the official Intune Win App Tool. If you have already installed the application just go ahead and open it. If not follow the steps below.

  • Download the official Microsoft Intune Win App Tool
  • Open the Intune Win App Tool.
    Important: You need to open the Tool with Administrator right. Otherwise there will be an error. 

In the application enter the following settings:

  • Please specify the source folder: C:\DeployEvernote
  • Please specify the setup file: Evernote-latest.exe
  • Please specify the output folder: C:\Output
  • Do you want to specify catalog folder: N

In your Output Folder, there should be a new file called Evernote-latest.intunewin. We need this file in Step 2

Step 2: Import and deploy with Microsoft Intune

In this step we will going to upload the created intunewin file from step 1 to Intune and deploy the application.

  • Go to intune.microsoft.com
  • Click on Apps
  • Click on Windows
  • Click on Add
  • Chose App type Windows app (win32)
  • Click on Select
  • Click on Select app package file
  • Upload your IntuneWin file which is located in C:\Output
  • Click on OK
  • Click on Next
  • Here you can change the Settings. I leave it as it is. Dont forget to enter a Publisher
  • Click on Next

On the Program tab enter the following Commands:

  • Install Command: Evernote-latest.exe /AllUsers /S
  • Uninstall command: “%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Evernote\Uninstall Evernote.exe” /AllUsers /S
  • Install behavior: System

When you have entered the settings you can click on Next

On the Requirements tab enter:

  • Operating system architecture: 64-bit
  • Minimum operating system: Windows 10 1607
  • Click on Next

On the Detection rules tab:

  • Rules format: Manually configure detection rules
  • Click on Add
  • Rule type: File
  • Path: %ProgramFiles(x86)%\Evernote\
  • File or Folder: Evernote.exe
  • Detection method: File or folder exists
  • Associated with a 32-bit app on 64-bit clients: No
  • Click on Ok and on Next
  • Define your Dependencies if applicable and click on Next
  • Define your Supersedence if applicable and click on Next
  • On the Assignments tab assign the Policy to a Group or to All User
  • Click on Next
  • And Review + Create the Policy

Congratulations! You have successfully deployed the policy.
